Striking the Anvil & filling the kettle
The craftsman Anthony Hayward has qualifications and over 30 years experience in welding, fabrication and forge-work. From humble beginnings with a coke fueled bottom draft forge, then, upgrading to a new Devil's gas forge, perfecting this unique modern craft.
We currently have two resident Ants that we use for advertising - They still don't have a name, we wonder if you could help?
It was Anthony's desire to create our friends from recycled steel closing caps, bits of a spanner and a pair of old pliers.
For advertising and promotion ...... They are great fun!!! But sugar keeps going missing and they keep chasing Annalisa, the forge's cake maker.
We love to recycle old wrought iron, we have used the ends of an antique cot, morphing them into a stunning Patio Planter to add colour and flare to the courtyard of the Salon de The.
To make the Honey Bee Sculpture we used a combination of recycling old steel nuts and coach-bolts, forging the legs and antenna, bonding the whole process with mig & arc welding.
We came across two wheelchair wheels at our local french charity shop Emmaus. First thought, they'd make a great cart. The cart was made, then an attachment for a parasol, plus a seat and a detachable shelf for potting plants. Malady is now happy and it was all very bespoke!
